The foundation for the landscaping of the vertical garden gradually took its shape with the use of recyclable materials and the planting of more than 500 pieces of herbal, flowering, edible and medicinal plants and trees.
Some of the plants include Sili, Tanglad, Aloe vera, Pandan, Oregano, Portulaca, Santan, Manzanilla, Yerba buena, Okra, Talong, Marang, Granada, Duhat, and Kalamansi. The vertical garden or the “halamanan” as what the residents call it was a refreshing oasis in the midst of the crowded area of informal settlers.
About 10 meters instead of 5 meters of the vertical garden was landscaped with herbal, flowering, edible and medicinal plants and trees.
A week after the launch of the Pocket of Wellness (POW) in Brgy. 157, the community members are still filled up with adrenalin refining and fixing the POW.
The real vision will come to reality when the planted herbal, flowering, edible and medicinal plants and trees have flourished and ready for use by the community. (excerpt from HFFI's report)
